The 2009 vintage unfolds with aromas of yellow nectarine, sourdough, white flowers, baked bread, and a hint of raspberries.  On the palate, it’s full‑bodied yet refined: flavors of toasted brioche, honeyed citrus, apricot, and exotic spice are underpinned by a chiseled mineral backbone and subtle salinity.  The finish is long and lingering, with elegance that suggests further evolution for many years. 

Billecart‑Salmon is one of Champagne’s revered independent houses, founded in 1818 in Mareuil‑sur‑Ay and still family owned.  Their Le Clos Saint‑Hilaire cuvée is a micro‑parcelle Blanc de Noirs made exclusively from a one‑hectare walled Pinot Noir vineyard (Clos) adjacent to the cellar, vinified in oak and aged for an exceptionally long time (nearly 162 months on lees in the 2009 as per Billecart’s own technical sheet).  This is a prestige, terroir‑driven expression meant to showcase purity, minerality, and the singular traits of this enclosed site.
