Sourced from just two tiny parcels (Clos Saint‑Jacques and Clos Chaudes‑Terres) of ungrafted, very old‑vine Pinot Noir in Aÿ, the 2016 vintage of Vieilles Vignes Françaises is remarkably rare and built for the ages. In the glass it offers a deep golden hue with an evocative nose of honey‑comb, hazelnut, smoked almond, apricot kernel, brioche and crushed granite mineral. On the palate the wine is dense and layered—riper than one might expect yet kept in tension by fine acidity and vivid minerality. Flavours of baked orchard fruit, fig compote, caramelised citrus peel and saline rock notes unfold into a remarkably long, complex finish. With its legacy of purity, lineage and craft, this wine will age gracefully for decades yet offers a profound drinking experience even in youth.
