Riccardo Ceretto founded Casa Vinicola Ceretto in the late 1930s, raising his two sons, Bruno and Marcello, in the wine business of Alba. The generation of the Ceretto brothers witnessed a depreciation in the quality of winemaking and squandered resources—conditions that inspired a small group of young men to rebuild the Langhe, establishing its merit as a prestigious wine zone. Bruno and Ceretto, appropriately known as the “Barolo Brothers,” were part of this movement. While the reserved Marcello developed skills in oenology and took control of production, his dynamic older sibling analyzed the business side of the wine world. It was Bruno’s innovative approach to marketing that brought attention to his sibling’s top-notch creations.
