This 2010 vintage from Chapoutier’s Barbe Rac bottling in Châteauneuf‑du‑Pape opens with an intense garnet‑ruby colour with purple reflections. The nose offers a rich bouquet of kirsch, black cherry, licorice, Mediterranean herbs (garrigue), tobacco, and a subtle balsamic edge.  On the palate it is full‑bodied, with a generous core of dark berry fruit, chocolate and spice, firm yet integrated tannins, and a long, layered finish with great mineral drive and aging potential. 

M. Chapoutier, founded in 1808 in Tain‑l’Hermitage and today led by Michel Chapoutier, is a benchmark for terroir‑driven winemaking in the Rhône Valley. The estate champions biodynamic viticulture, selects individual parcels for “Sélection Parcellaire” bottlings, and focuses on minimal intervention—hand‑harvesting, native yeasts, and site‑specific vinification—to let each vineyard speak clearly.
