This 2022 vintage comes from the granitic, south‑west facing slopes at the end of Hermitage Hill in Crozes‑Ermitage, planted to 100% Syrah. On the nose it opens with rich blackcurrant, raspberry and fig, layered with violet florals, liquorice and ground pepper. On the palate it shows medium‑to‑full body, firm yet polished tannins, and a finish of jammy dark fruit, subtle vanilla oak and minerally depth—an exceptional Crozes with real structure and longevity.
Founded in 1808 and now led by Michel Chapoutier, the estate stands as a benchmark of terroir‑driven winemaking in the Northern Rhône. Their hallmark lies in biodynamic viticulture, hand‑harvested grapes, and single‑vineyard “Sélection Parcellaire” bottlings that express the precise personality of each parcel. Chapoutier’s philosophy is rooted in letting the land speak—through soil, microclimate and vine—yielding wines of clarity, authenticity and exceptional aging potential.
