The 2019 vintage is a confident and refined expression of Berliquet’s potential. It opens with seductive aromas of wild strawberries, red cherries, graphite, violets, and hints of cedar and baking spice. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied with lifted acidity and tightly-knit tannins, delivering both vibrancy and structure. The finish is long, mineral, and elegant—showcasing limestone freshness and delicate fruit purity. Critics praised its finesse and aging potential, with scores ranging from 92 to 94 points, noting it as one of the estate’s finest modern vintages and a strong candidate for aging over the next two decades.
Château Berliquet is one of Saint-Émilion’s historic gems, with roots tracing back to the 18th century. In 2017, the estate entered a new era under the ownership of Chanel, which also owns the nearby Château Canon. Since then, Berliquet has benefited from the precision, elegance, and expertise of Canon’s technical team, led by winemaker Nicolas Audebert. The estate’s 10 hectares of limestone and clay vineyards are farmed organically, and the winemaking philosophy emphasizes purity, restraint, and terroir expression. The result is a series of wines that are both classically structured and unmistakably modern in their finesse.
