The 2015 Château Cantemerle is a standout expression from a warm and generous Bordeaux vintage. Aromatically vibrant, it opens with notes of ripe blackcurrant, plum, and dark cherry, framed by violets, cedar, and a touch of tobacco. On the palate, the wine shows medium to full body, with supple tannins and a fine thread of acidity that keeps the richness well balanced. Flavors of blackberry, graphite, and spice lead to a polished, persistent finish marked by elegance rather than sheer power. Approachable in its youth, this 2015 also has the structure and balance to evolve beautifully over the next 15–20 years, making it a versatile choice for both early enjoyment and cellaring.
Château Cantemerle, located in the southern Médoc near Macau, is one of the oldest classified estates in Bordeaux, with a history dating back to the 12th century. Classified as a Fifth Growth in the 1855 Médoc Classification, Cantemerle is known for producing wines of balance, elegance, and approachability. The estate’s 90 hectares of vineyards are planted mainly to Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with smaller proportions of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, growing in gravelly soils that impart finesse and freshness. The winemaking style emphasizes precision and harmony, yielding wines that combine classic Médoc character with charm and drinkability.
