The 2018 vintage is a standout expression of the château’s pedigree. A blend dominated by Merlot with a complement of Cabernet Franc, the wine is dark, expressive, and harmonious. Aromas of ripe blackberry, plum, violet, and crushed stone lead into a plush, layered palate brimming with black cherry, licorice, and cocoa. The limestone soils provide vibrant acidity and a mineral edge that lift the wine’s richness. Silky tannins and a long, focused finish make this a superb example of modern Saint-Émilion, with both power and refinement.
Château Larcis Ducasse is a historic Saint-Émilion estate with origins dating back to the 17th century. In recent decades, the property has undergone a renaissance under the guidance of Nicolas Thienpont and renowned oenologist Stéphane Derenoncourt. Its vineyards are perched on the limestone-rich Côte Pavie, a prized terroir that imparts finesse and minerality to its wines. The estate’s approach emphasizes biodynamic principles, low yields, and minimal intervention, resulting in wines that marry depth with elegance and a clear sense of place.
