The 2019 vintage, composed of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot, offers a beautifully restrained Pauillac profile. Aromatically, it unfolds with violets, blackberries, cassis, subtle licorice, and warm spice, leading to a medium-to-full-bodied palate marked by plush fruit, polished powdery tannins, and a refined mineral finish. Critics awarded high praise—93 by Wine Advocate, 94 by James Suckling, 94–95 by Jeb Dunnuck, and more—highlighting its plush texture, freshness, and incredible aging potential through roughly 2045.
Château d’Armailhac is a historic Fifth Growth estate in Pauillac, formerly known as Mouton d’Armailhacq, and today part of the Rothschild portfolio. The property spans approximately 70 hectares of gravelly, clay-limestone soils adjacent to legendary neighbors like Mouton Rothschild and Pontet-Canet. In the 2021 vintage, the estate transitioned to a new gravity-fed cellar, reflecting its ongoing evolution rooted in meticulous viticulture and parcel-focused winemaking.
