The 2015 Terra dei Preti is a deep, textured expression of Trebbiano Spoletino matured by skin contact. Expect aromas of dried apricot, orange peel, wild herbs, and savory spice, layered with underlying saline minerality. The palate is rich yet tensile—full-bodied, slightly waxy, supported by vibrant acidity and a lingering mineral-saline finish. With age, the wine reveals greater complexity of dried citrus, spice, and tertiary nuances.
Collecapretta is a small, family-run estate in Umbria, located in the Colli Martani near Spoleto, with the Mattioli family farming there for generations. The winery practices natural winemaking—no added sulfur, native fermentations, and minimal intervention in cellar work—allowing purity of expression from their old vines. The vineyards, often situated at ~500–600 m elevation on clay-calcareous soils with iron and tuff, benefit from cool nighttime breezes that help preserve freshness and structure. Their “Terra dei Preti” line in particular is made from 100 % old-vine Trebbiano Spoletino, with skin contact or maceration techniques (“ribollito” style) used in select vintages.
