The Brunello di Montalcino 2021 is a vibrant and finely articulated expression from a promising, balanced vintage. The nose reveals red cherry, wild strawberry, rose petal, and subtle Mediterranean herbs, layered with hints of spice and mineral nuance. On the palate, the wine is medium- to full-bodied, with finely grained tannins and bright acidity giving energy and lift. Flavors of sour plum, cranberry, and savory earth unfold with precision and depth. The texture is polished yet structured, reflecting careful élevage and disciplined extraction. The finish is long, fresh, and elegant—an age-worthy Brunello that captures both Cupano’s artisanal finesse and the clarity of the 2021 vintage.
Cupano is a small, artisanal estate located in the southwestern hills of Montalcino, founded by Lionel Cousin and Ornella Tondini. The property is organically farmed and managed with a deeply hands-on philosophy, emphasizing biodiversity, low yields, and meticulous vineyard work. Cupano is known for combining Burgundian sensitivity with Tuscan terroir, favoring elegance, purity, and precision over mass and extraction. Fermentations are natural, and aging takes place in carefully selected French oak to refine texture without masking site character. Production is extremely limited, and selection is rigorous. The wines are sought after for their balance, aromatic clarity, and capacity to age gracefully.
