The 2016 Eisele Cabernet opens with a deep purple core and edges of garnet, showing aromatic lift of blackberry, black currant, tobacco leaf, cedar, and dried herbs, with darker undertones of graphite and forest floor. On the palate it is full‑bodied, rich and powerful, yet elegant: tannins are robust but finely grained, acidity balanced to give freshness rather than heaviness, and layers of dark fruit, mineral, and earth build toward a long, persistent finish. Notes of truffle, black olive, and spice emerge with time; the oak is present but integrated, offering texture rather than dominance. Earlier drinking is possible with decanting, but this wine is absolutely built for the long haul — peak window likely spanning 2024‑2035+.
Eisele Vineyard (formerly Araujo Estate) is one of Napa Valley’s legendary properties, famed for producing some of the most terroir‑driven, age‑worthy Cabernets in the wine world. Situated in Calistoga on volcanic, alluvial soils, with steep sections, strong drainage, and exposures that manage heat and sunlight with precision, the site forces vines to work deeply and slowly. Farming is organic and increasingly biodynamic; the estate prioritizes low yields, exacting selection, gentle extraction, and élevage in fine French oak to let vineyard expression shine. Ownership by Groupe Artémis has only strengthened its reputation, investing in infrastructure and vinification while preserving the estate’s identity. Eisele sits among the very highest tier of Napa producers: its name alone evokes prestige, longevity, and purity.
