The 2014 Mascot offers a richly textured and compelling wine that balances power and approachability. Aromas of ripe dark cherry, cassis, and plum are framed by cedar, baking spice, and graphite, with an overlay of mountain herbs that lift the profile. On the palate it is full‑bodied, with polished yet firm tannins, excellent acidity, and a long finish marked by minerality and a whisper of oak. Despite its intensity, there’s a graceful undercurrent—fruit purity and clarity shine through, making it drinkable now but with many years ahead. “An athletic balance of energy and density … the quality ringing true to the pedigree of its parent sites.” 

Mascot is the boutique Napa Valley project founded by Will Harlan, son of Bill Harlan of Harlan Estate. The wine is crafted from the younger vines belonging to Harlan Estate, Bond, and Promontory—steep hillside vineyards with strong pedigree. The goal with Mascot is to capture the energy, elegance, and potential of these elite sites even before vines reach full maturity. The fruit is harvested carefully, aged with finesse, and blended from multiple parcels to reveal both intensity and poise. Each vintage is a preview of what’s to come from these renowned properties, borne of rigorous vineyard work and a refined winemaking hand.
