This Rioja, a blend of mostly Tempranillo with about a fifth Garnacha, has a nose that should inspire poets. Rain-splattered wild violets, toasted coconut, cinnamon and ripe brambly berries lie atop a bed of earth, smoke and forest floor. It’s a heady combination of flavor palates, but the wine’s velvety tannins and jaunty acidity will make a Rioja convert out of any stubborn wine drinker.
