From one of Burgundy’s most coveted Grand Cru sites, the 2004 Bâtard-Montrachet is made from 100% Chardonnay grown on limestone and marl soils that yield both power and elegance. The bouquet offers ripe pear, baked apple, and lemon curd, layered with notes of toasted almond, acacia blossom, and subtle spice from well-integrated oak. On the palate, it is broad and opulent, yet underpinned by vibrant acidity, with flavors of citrus cream, hazelnut, and a distinctive mineral salinity. The finish is long, silky, and complex, showing the wine’s pedigree and its ability to age. Now fully mature, it displays tertiary nuances of honey, brioche, and dried chamomile, making it a superb example of aged white Burgundy at its peak.
Founded in 1797 and still family-owned, Maison Louis Latour is one of Burgundy’s most historic and respected négociant-éleveurs, renowned for its deep portfolio of village, Premier Cru, and Grand Cru wines. Now in its eleventh generation of family leadership, the estate farms over 50 hectares of prime vineyards, with a focus on Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The Latour family’s cellars in Aloxe-Corton are among the oldest in the region, and the winery is celebrated for its traditional yet precise approach — long fermentations, restrained use of new oak, and an emphasis on expressing terroir. With holdings across some of Burgundy’s most prestigious appellations, Louis Latour has built a reputation for crafting age-worthy wines that balance richness and finesse.
