The 2017 Chassagne-Montrachet “Margot” opens with a light golden hue and exudes fresh, linear aromatics. Tasting notes describe “pungent aromas of matchstick, petrol and resin” leading to a vibrant, well-detailed medium‑weight palate with remarkable clarity and persistence. Others note its balance of freshness and character—sap and finesse—with a notably long floral finish.
Domaine Marc Colin et Fils, founded in 1970, remains a family-run beacon of Burgundian quality, spanning 26 appellations across Saint-Aubin, Santenay, Chassagne, and Puligny-Montrachet. Margot, named after the siblings’ paternal grandmother, comes from four parcels averaging 35 years in age on the lower slopes of Chassagne. The estate now practices refined, respectful viticulture—favoring larger barrels and foudres to retain freshness and reduce new oak usage—resulting in wines of clarity, nuance, and terroir purity.
