Crafted from 100% Nebbiolo, the Gattinara 2018 is a pure expression of the appellation’s elegance and minerality. The bouquet opens with red currant, rose petal, blood orange, and delicate spice, layered with hints of wet stone and herbal undertones. The palate is lithe yet structured, showcasing finely knit tannins, vibrant acidity, and flavors of ripe red berries, licorice, and subtle graphite. The volcanic terroir imparts a savory, almost saline edge, while the finish lingers with notes of dried herbs and tobacco. Founded in 1906, Nervi is the oldest winery in the Gattinara appellation of Alto Piemonte, a region renowned for its high-altitude Nebbiolo vineyards rooted in rare volcanic soils. In 2018, the estate entered a new era when Roberto Conterno of Giacomo Conterno, one of Barolo’s most revered names, acquired it. This union brought an uncompromising approach to vineyard care, extremely selective harvesting, and a precision in winemaking that mirrors Conterno’s legendary work in the Langhe. The winery’s prized crus, including Molsino and Valferana, produce wines with remarkable tension, depth, and longevity.
