Deep garnet‑purple in color, the 2017 Pétrus opens with bold and expressive aromas of Black Forest cake, blueberry preserves, baked plums, candied violets, and hints of molten chocolate, five‑spice and licorice. On the palate it is full‑bodied, rich and beautifully concentrated, yet remarkably fresh—vivid acidity underpins ripe, velvety tannins and a long, opulent finish. The structure is firm but elegant, with underlying minerality and subtle truffle‑earth notes emerging with time in the glass. While already compelling, this wine is built for the future and will reward decades of cellaring, evolving with depth, nuance and grace.
Located on a singular 11.4 ha plot in the heart of the Pomerol appellation, Pétrus is one of Bordeaux’s most revered estates—producing only one red wine, from 100% Merlot. Its terroir, rooted in deep blue‑clay soils, combined with meticulous viticulture and vinification, has created wines revered for their depth, concentration and longevity. The 2017 vintage was crafted under the direction of winemaker Olivier Berrouet, who used careful selection, longer maceration and minimal intervention to ensure the wine expressed both site and vintage constraints. Pétrus consistently sits at the apex of collectible fine wines, its bottles coveted for their pedigree, age‑worthiness and singular character.
