The 1996 “Bricco Manzoni” displays mature, autumnal notes of spice, dried leaves, truffle, and dark cherry.  In the glass, it opens with hints of forest floor and subtle floral tones, with softened tannins that still leave a presence on the finish.  There’s still a visible acid line and a bright core, giving it vitality despite its age. 

Rocche dei Manzoni is a lesser‑known but deeply respected estate in Piedmont, often working in the Langhe region with a style that bridges tradition and modern expression. Their “Bricco Manzoni” bottling is a Langhe Rosso blend (typically incorporating 80% Nebbiolo and 20% Barbera)  . The estate favors expressive fruit, integrity, and aging potential, avoiding over-oak in favor of letting fruit and terroir show through.  Rocche Manzoni’s wines are sometimes called “Super‑Piemonte” for combining Nebbiolo’s structure with the softness of Barbera, offering wines with both backbone and elegance.
