The 2023 Winkl is a luminous and expressive Sauvignon Blanc of both intensity and finesse. It opens with bright aromas of apricot, mandarin, passion fruit, elderflower, gooseberry, and a touch of mint. On the palate, the wine is creamy yet lifted, with lively acidity and a frame of stone and mineral tension that keeps it crisp. Flavors of citrus, tropical fruit, and subtle herbal edges mingle, culminating in a long, aromatic, and mineral-driven finish.
Cantina Terlano is a historic and highly respected cooperative winery located in Alto Adige (South Tyrol), Northern Italy. It has long been revered for producing white wines of precision and minerality, thanks to its terroir of porphyritic soils and cool mountain influences. The “Winkl” label is their signature Sauvignon Blanc bottling, established in 1956, and is drawn from old, low-yielding vineyards in the Winkl site—often regarded as one of the finest Sauvignon Blanc terroirs in Alto Adige. Over the years, Cantina Terlano has adopted careful viticulture—manual harvesting, rigorous selection, and low yields—and refined cellar practices, including lees ageing in both stainless steel and large wooden casks (a portion) to balance freshness with texture. Their approach emphasizes clarity, minerality, and long aging potential in their top whites—traits that Winkl embodies.
