The 2013 Barolo Brunate is a striking wine from one of Barolo’s greatest and most historic vineyards, crafted in a classic, cooler vintage. The nose is complex and perfumed, offering layers of dark cherry, plum, and raspberry, intertwined with rose petals, licorice, tobacco, and hints of tar. On the palate, it is powerful yet elegant, with fine-grained tannins and vibrant acidity providing structure and precision. Mineral undertones and savory notes of leather and spice add dimension, leading to a long, persistent finish. Still youthful, the 2013 Brunate will continue to evolve beautifully, rewarding patience with increasing complexity and finesse over the next 20+ years.
Roberto Voerzio is one of the most influential modernists in Barolo, celebrated for his meticulous vineyard practices and limited-yield philosophy that consistently produces wines of incredible depth and concentration. Based in La Morra, Voerzio manages some of Barolo’s most prized crus, including Cerequio, La Serra, Rocche dell’Annunziata, and Brunate. His approach involves drastically reducing yields to some of the lowest in the region, ensuring intensely flavored fruit, combined with precise winemaking that balances richness with refinement. Voerzio’s wines are highly collectible, sought for their purity, polish, and ability to age gracefully for decades.
