The 2017 vintage is a blend dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, supported by Carmenère and Cabernet Franc. It opens with dense aromas of blackberry, black cherry, graphite, and cigar box, followed by subtle notes of violet, cocoa, and exotic spice. On the palate, it’s rich and full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a precise acid spine that gives it lift and longevity. The finish is polished and persistent, showcasing Almaviva’s signature refinement and depth. A benchmark for Chilean fine wine, this vintage is drinking beautifully now but will continue to evolve for decades.
Almaviva is a landmark joint venture between Baron Philippe de Rothschild of Château Mouton Rothschild and Concha y Toro, Chile’s most prestigious winery. Founded in 1997, Almaviva was conceived to bring First Growth Bordeaux know-how to the exceptional terroir of Puente Alto, in the foothills of the Andes. The name “Almaviva” comes from Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro, reflecting a fusion of French elegance and Latin soul. The estate farms with precision and restraint, producing wines that combine Old World structure with New World power, making it one of the most collectible and age-worthy wines in South America.
