The 2019 Rosso de Veo is potent and brooding: dark blackberry, plum, rubbed sage, autumn spice, and mineral‑charged undercurrents dominate. With ~45 days of maceration, significant tannins, and a texture that balances grip with richness, it’s bold but layered. It’s not polite but it’s compelling—powerful now with cellar potential, draws comparisons to Bea’s higher end wines.
Paolo Bea is one of Umbria’s most individualistic and respected winegrowers, known for his deeply expressive Sagrantino and farm‑driven wines from Montefalco. The Bea family vineyards are farmed organically, and Paolo Bea applies long macerations, minimal filtration, and a hands‑on cellar approach. Rosso de Veo is made from younger Sagrantino vines or parcels not selected for his top cuvées, but still crafted with the same rigor: intense, rustic, honest—the vineyard, vintage, and grape all clearly heard.
