The Sagrantino di Montefalco Secco Pagliaro 2007 is a monumental and deeply expressive wine from a warm, powerful vintage. The nose is intense and layered, revealing black cherry, dried plum, wild herbs, leather, and notes of cocoa and balsamic depth. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and structured, with formidable yet integrated tannins that define its architecture. Flavors of dark berries, licorice, tobacco, and savory earth unfold with remarkable concentration and persistence. Despite its density, a core of freshness keeps the wine balanced and alive. The finish is exceptionally long, dry, and resonant—an uncompromising, age-worthy Sagrantino that captures both the raw power of the grape and Paolo Bea’s timeless philosophy.
Paolo Bea is one of Italy’s most uncompromising natural and traditionalist estates, based in Montefalco, Umbria. The Bea family farms organically with deep respect for biodiversity, low yields, and long vineyard aging to achieve physiological ripeness without chemical intervention. In the cellar, the philosophy is radically non-interventionist: native fermentations, extended macerations, long aging in large oak, and no filtration. Wines are released only when deemed ready, often after many years in cask and bottle. Paolo Bea’s Sagrantino is renowned for its authenticity, structural intensity, and profound aging capacity. Pagliaro, a historic single vineyard, represents the estate’s most emblematic expression of Sagrantino.
