The 2019 Pagliaro is deeply tannic, dense, and powerfully concentrated, with dark fruits like blackberry, black cherry, and plum, plus exotic spices, leather, tobacco, and mineral lift. It finishes long, layered, and structured — excellent for cellaring, showing significant aging potential.
Paolo Bea is a legendary figure in Umbrian winemaking, farming organically and often biodynamically in Montefalco. His vineyards—including Pagliaro at ~1,300 ft elevation—are tended with low intervention, long macerations, and traditional aging (large Slavonian oak, unfiltered bottling). The Bea family balances rustic intensity with refinement, making wines that feel elemental yet remarkably expressive.
