The 2014 Fascia Rossa is a refined wine, embodying the house style with vibrant acidity, elegant structure, and pronounced Sangiovese character. With a bright ruby hue, its nose offers aromas of red berries, violet, and a note of white pepper. Medium-bodied and lithe, the palate reveals precise cherry and cranberry flavors, framed by racy acidity and fine tannins that promise both approachability and further development. According to Wine Enthusiast, “delicately scented with bright red berry and violet aromas… racy acidity and tight, fine tannins provide the framework.” It is an ideal Rosso for now, with a drinking window extending from approximately 2018 to 2024.
The Biondi‑Santi family is synonymous with Brunello di Montalcino and its illustrious legacy. Founded in the 19th century by Ferruccio Biondi‑Santi, they are credited with crafting the first Brunello, cementing the appellation’s international reputation. Today, at the historic Tenuta Greppo, the family maintains a philosophy deeply rooted in traditional Sangiovese Grosso viticulture. Meticulous attention to clone selection—particularly their proprietary BBS11 clone—combined with organic practices and restrained winemaking, ensures wines of purity, finesse, and remarkable longevity. In 2014, they opted not to produce a Brunello; instead, their exceptional fruit was released under the Rosso di Montalcino “Fascia Rossa” label, preserving quality while adapting to the vintage.
