This 2008 vintage R.D. is a blend of 71% Pinot Noir and 29% Chardonnay from 18 crus, aged 14 years on lees and disgorged with only 3 g/L dosage. Aromas of toasted hazelnut, marzipan, baked bread, lemon zest, preserved apricot and sea‑shell minerality open the glass. On the palate it is medium‑to‑full‑bodied, with razor‑sharp acidity, a creamy fine mousse, and a bone‑dry finish of ripe yellow fruit, saline minerals and subtle spice—built for decades of evolution.
Founded in 1829 in Aÿ and still independently owned, Bollinger stands out among Champagne houses for its deep commitment to tradition, quality and richness. The estate ferments all its vintage and prestige cuvées entirely in oak barrels and ages them long on the lees under cork—a practice almost unique today. Their “R.D.” (Recently Disgorged) bottling is a rare, extra‑brut release that highlights grand‑cru sites, minimal dosage and extended maturation for depth, length and freshness.
