The 2014 Vecina is rich, brooding, and built for the long haul. It shows dark berry fruits—blackberry, cassis—alongside baked blueberries, anise, and undergrowth of dusty earth and bay leaves. There’s also complexity from sweet tobacco, dark chocolate powder, and hints of forest floor. Full‑bodied and concentrated, with firm tannins and great structure, it offers latent layers that should unfold beautifully over 20‑25 years. “Full‑bodied, rich, spicy and powerful in the mouth… promises great, great things to come with an incredibly long, layered finish.” – The Wine Advocate
Bond Estates is the high‑end project of Bill Harlan and winemaking partner Bob Levy (with consulting input from Michel Rolland), focused on crafting Napa Valley’s “Grand Crus” of Cabernet Sauvignon. Instead of owning all vineyards, Bond leases and contracts some of the most terroir‑rich hillside sites in Oakville and surrounding Napa, giving them full viticultural control. The winemaking philosophy is rigorous: selective harvesting, gentle extraction, aging in top‑quality French oak, attention to soil, slope, and sun exposure. Vecina is one of their flagship cuvées, made on volcanic soil terraces in Oakville’s western foothills, from vines planted on well‑drained beds over volcanic bedrock, facing east to catch morning light. The result: wines of power, nuance, and long aging potential.
