The 2015 Ermitage Blanc de L’Orée is a majestic, ageworthy white crafted from 100% Marsanne sourced from the “Les Murets” parcel on Hermitage’s alluvial terraces—ancient glacial deposits rich in mineral complexity.  In the glass it shows an intense golden yellow colour with green‑gold glints, opening with aromas of hot pebbles, toasted almonds, brioche, and ripe citrus (lemon, grapefruit) layered with hints of acacia, hawthorn, and subtle honeyed stone fruit.  On the palate, the wine is full‑bodied and richly textured, yet fresh and vibrant thanks to the underlying acidity and mineral core. Flavours of apricot, white peach, toasted bread, saline rock, and candied fig unfold with a stacking mid‑palate and culminate in a remarkably long, elegant finish.  With a drinking window extending many years into the future, this is a white of serious calibre—showing power, precision and pure terroir expression in equal measure.

Chapoutier M. Description

M. Chapoutier is a landmark estate in the Northern Rhône whose roots date back to 1808 and whose bold philosophy has helped redefine the region’s approach to viticulture. Located on the Hermitage hill, the domaine was a pioneer in biodynamic farming, converting its vineyards to biodynamic certification by the early 2000s and embracing the belief that terroir must speak for itself.  The winery emphasises “Sélection Parcellaire” bottlings—single‑vineyard or parcel‑specific wines—that aim to reflect the unique soils, climate and exposure of each site.  Under the leadership of Michel Chapoutier, the estate blends respect for tradition with experimental vigour—fermentations may occur in old oak or stainless steel, yields are kept low, and precise choices in barrel aging (including amphora, barrels and demi‑muids) are made to preserve clarity and longevity.
