The 2018 vintage of L’Ermite, drawn from Chapoutier’s steep, granite‑rich site in Hermitage, opens with intense aromas of crushed stone, wild blueberries, ink, and smoky violet petals. On the palate it is full‑bodied and powerful—with velvety tannins, dense dark fruit, graphite undercurrent and a long, precise finish built to age for decades.
Founded in 1808 and led today by Michel Chapoutier, the estate is a benchmark of terroir‑driven winemaking in the Northern Rhône. The famed “Sélection Parcellaire” series highlights individual parcels—hand‑harvested, bio-dynamically farmed, and vinified with minimal intervention to let the vineyard express itself. Chapoutier’s Hermitage reds and whites are known for their precision, depth, and remarkable aging potential.
