From the warm, shingle‑rich slopes of Hermitage, the 2011 Le Méâl opens with deep garnet hue and aromas of ripe black fruit, smoky minerals, Szechuan pepper and violet.  On the palate it is powerful yet elegant, showing velvety tannins, blackberry jam, liquorice and graphite with a lingering finish of dark spice and mineral tension—destined for decades of evolution. 

Founded in 1808 and now led by Michel Chapoutier, this estate is a benchmark of terroir‑driven winemaking in the Northern Rhône. With a firm commitment to biodynamic viticulture, Chapoutier carefully harvests by hand, uses minimal intervention, and crafts single‑vineyard bottlings that express the unique soils and microclimates of each site.
