The 2009 vintage is powerful, structured, and deeply classic. It opens with dense aromas of black cherry, cassis, loamy earth, and spice, with touches of tobacco and forest floor.  On the palate, it shows muscular tannins, concentrated dark fruit, graphite undertones, and a firm, long finish.  Critics often place its maturation window between 2025–2050+, indicating it still has many years ahead. 

Château Calon‑Ségur is one of the landmark estates of Saint‑Estèphe, classified as a Troisième Cru in the 1855 Bordeaux ranking.  Its historical roots run deep: the property was once part of the holdings of the Marquis de Ségur, who famously said, “I make my wine at Lafite and Latour, but my heart is in Calon” — a sentiment still evoked by the heart emblem on the label.  Over recent decades, Calon‑Ségur has invested in vineyard modernization, parcel‑level selection, and cellar renovations.  Under new ownership by Suravenir since 2012, the estate has continued to sharpen its focus on precision and terroir expression.
