The 2015 Château Figeac opens with a profound aromatic array: crème de cassis, black raspberries, violets, graphite and smoked earth create an intense yet polished bouquet. On the palate it delivers rich, concentrated dark fruit—black cherry and plum—alongside iron‑rich minerality and a vibrant saline thread that reflects its terroir. Chalky, fine‑grained tannins and brisk acidity give structure and lift, preventing the depth from turning heavy; the mid‑palate reveals tobacco leaf, cedar and underbrush complexity. The finish is long, precise and lingering, echoing warm stones and licorice—an exceptional example of the vintage. Although still youthful and built for long‑term evolution (well into the 2040s or beyond), it offers immediate reward with decanting.
Château Figeac, situated in Saint‑Émilion, stands among the most prestigious estates on the Right Bank of Bordeaux. With a unique gravel‑rich terroir more typical of the Médoc than Saint‑Émilion, the vineyard supports a distinctive high‑proportion blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. The Manoncourt family has guided Figeac for decades, obsessively pursuing vine health, precision in fermentations and ageing in new French oak to craft wines of power, elegance and longevity. Figeac’s style marries the structural backbone of a Left Bank gravel vineyard with the finesse and refinement of the Right Bank — a signature that collectors prize.
