The 2016 La Parde opens with a medium‑deep garnet‑purple colour and an expressive bouquet of cassis, redcurrant jelly, fragrant earth, dried Provençal herbs and a waft of lavender.  On the palate, it is medium to full‑bodied, firm but refined, featuring grainy tannins alongside rich dark fruit—blackberry and mulberry—balanced by lively acidity and a fine mineral thread.  Mid‑palate notes of smoked cedar, subtle black pepper and tobacco leaf add complexity, and the finish is long, layered and mineral‑laced, reflecting the estate’s gravel terroir.  Although fully enjoyable now with some decanting, the wine carries enough structure to evolve gracefully into the early 2030s.  

Château Haut‑Bailly, situated in the Pessac‑Léognan appellation of Bordeaux’s Graves region, is celebrated for marrying power, elegance and long‑term structure. The estate, owned by the Wilmers family and guided by managing director Véronique Sanders, has modernised its vineyards and cellar operations while preserving its classic style and gravel‑rich terroir. The 39‑hectare vineyard, planted predominantly to Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, along with small amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, sits on meticulously drained soil that lends freshness and minerality to its wines.
