The 2015 magnum opens with a rich garnet‑ruby hue and an arresting nose of loganberry, wild plum, violet petals, dark chocolate and crushed stone, layered with subtle licorice and graphite. On the palate it is medium‑to‑full bodied yet beautifully balanced, offering intense black‑fruit concentration framed by laser‑fine tannins and bright, fresh acidity that lift the wine. Mid‑palate complexity reveals black cherry liqueur, smoked cedar, mineral flint and a hint of exotic spice, all flowing with remarkable finesse. The finish is long, layered and pure—echoes of cherry pit, dry herbs, and a saline mineral thread linger gracefully. This 1.5 L format enhances depth, texture and ageing potential—while it shows compellingly with decanting now, it is clearly built to evolve gracefully over the next 15 – 20 + years.
Château Lafleur is one of the most revered estates in the Right Bank’s Pomerol appellation, prized for its tiny production (around 4 hectares) and unwavering pursuit of quality and distinction. Under the stewardship of the Guinaudeau family, the estate maintains extremely low yields, meticulous viticulture and a blend dominated by Merlot and Cabernet Franc (typically around 50/50) to reflect both richness and structure. With no grand château façade and very limited bottles each year, Lafleur’s mystique lies in its rarity, purity and consistency—earning it a place among the world’s finest wines.
