The 2019 vintage is a compelling and nuanced wine, offering aromas of kirsch, redcurrant jelly, rose oil, exotic spices, and tobacco. On the palate, it’s medium-bodied with plush tannins, vibrant freshness, and exceptional length. Critically acclaimed: 96 points from Farr Vintners, 97+ from Lisa Perrotti-Brown (Wine Independent), and 97 from Jane Anson, who praised its slate-textured minerality, violet and peony layers, and restrained elegance, recommending a few years of bottle age to fully develop.
Château Les Carmes Haut‑Brion is an iconic estate in Pessac‑Léognan, unique for being located within the city limits of Bordeaux. Its 4.7-hectare vineyard is planted to an unusually high proportion of Cabernet Franc, complemented by Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Under the ownership of Groupe Pichet since 2010, and with Guillaume Pouthier and Stéphane Derenoncourt at the helm, the estate has rejuvenated its reputation for terroir-driven wines marked by sophistication and precision.
