The 2003 Musar Blanc shows a deeper color than usual, a straw-gold hue with amber touches. Aromatically, it delivers orange peel, sweet spice, stewed pears, wax, honey, and toasted nuts. On the palate it is rich, dry, savory, and generous—almond and citrus flavors dominate, framed by a firm structure and intense depth. The wine is deliberately oxidative in style, with a restrained, refined evolution and an enduring finish.
Château Musar, located in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley, is an iconic estate founded in the 1930s by Gaston Hochar, famous for producing red and white wines that age with grace and complexity. Their white wines are made from the indigenous grape varieties Obaideh and Merwah, vinified in oak, often with deliberate oxidative elements, and aged in barrel before bottling. The 2003 vintage, in particular, benefited from extreme climatic conditions (a hot, dry year with reduced yields), which concentrated both fruit and acidity.
