The 2009 Colonnello shows a beautiful bouquet of cherry, sweet spice, tar, rose, leather, and touches of earth. On the palate it remains vibrant and structured, offering velvety tannins, layered red fruit, oak spice, and a long, polished finish—ripe yet still alive, a testament to Colonnello’s elegance even at 15+ years.
Poderi Aldo Conterno is one of the most respected Barolo houses, based in Monforte d’Alba in the Bussia cru. The estate was founded by Aldo Conterno in 1969, and his sons Franco, Stefano, and Giacomo continue his legacy of integrity, balance, and long‑term thinking. Conterno’s philosophy emphasizes low yields, careful vineyard selection, long aging in large Slavonian oak casks, and minimal intervention in the cellar—allowing the personality of each cru to emerge over time. Among their prized single‑vineyard Barolos, Colonnello is known for elegance, aromatic lift, and a more refined, graceful expression of Nebbiolo rather than brute force. Their consistency across vintages has made them benchmarks for collectors and connoisseurs alike.
