Though specific tasting notes of the 2010 vintage of Conca Tre Pile are rare, one can expect tertiary aromas of dried cherry, leather, tobacco, and earth emerging from its youthful red fruit roots. Given its aging, the palate should now offer smooth texture, softened tannins, and lingering red-berry core with notes of spice and mineral undercurrents, making it a charmingly mature Barbera with character.

Conterno, Aldo Description

Poderi Aldo Conterno, founded in Monforte d’Alba in 1969 by Aldo Conterno, is a benchmark producer in Piedmont celebrated for blending traditional Barolo pedigree with a refined sense of terroir.  While best known for its cru Barolos, the estate also crafts notable expressions of Barbera, Dolcetto, and Nebbiolo from its holdings in the Bussia hills. The Conca Tre Pile vineyard lies on the northeast slopes of Bussia Soprana, planted on clay‑marl soils, and is farmed with rigorous selection and manual harvesting.  For the Barbera cuvée, Conterno typically uses medium macerations in stainless steel followed by aging partly in wood to round structure without overpowering fruit.  Over time, Conterno’s philosophy has emphasized that not all wines need to be Nebbiolo — Barbera at its best can offer lively fruit, clarity, and transparent expression of site.
