The 2015 Roucas Toumba Rosé de la Roche (Vacqueyras) opens with vibrant aromas of wild strawberry, melon rind, rose petal, and a hint of crushed stone. On the palate it is crisp yet textured, with red berry flavors, citrus lift, mineral drive, and a long, saline finish. Balanced and refined, it shows both Provençal charm and Rhône depth.
Domaine Roucas Toumba, run by Eric Bouletin in Vacqueyras, is one of the Rhône’s authentic, terroir-driven estates. The vineyards are planted on terraced hillsides (restanques) with clay‑limestone and sandstone soils, sheltered yet influenced by Mistral wind. The vines are worked organically, with strict parcel selection and minimal intervention in the cellar. Bouletin left the local co-op in 2006 to vinify his grapes himself—since then, his offerings have come to reflect a rigorous respect for place, clarity in expression, and a voice that is both rustic and refined. Their rosé bottlings, often made as “rosé de saignée” blends dominated by Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault, carry the estate’s signature freshness, structure, and saline minerality.
