The 2016 Domaine Roucas Toumba Vacqueyras Rosé offers lifted aromatics of wild strawberry, peach pit, fresh herbs, and crushed stone. On the palate it is crisp and balanced, with vibrant red fruit, refreshing acidity, and a fine salinity that lingers through the finish—both lively and elegant.
Domaine Roucas Toumba is a soulful, terroir-rooted estate in Vacqueyras, guided by Eric Bouletin’s philosophy of authenticity and respect for the land. After leaving the local cooperative in the mid-2000s, Bouletin committed fully to estate bottling, parcel-level selection, and organic practices—even in clay-limestone terraces exposed to the Mistral wind. His vineyards, planted to Grenache, Syrah, and Cinsault, are farmed with low yields and minimal intrusion, all in service of allowing the site’s character to come through. In the cellar, Bouletin uses gentle extraction, native yeasts, and limited oak influence, favoring freshness, clarity, and minerality over power. His rosés (often made via saignée) express the heart of Vacqueyras—structured yet breezy, precise yet expressive.
