The 2020 Cuvée da Capo is an extraordinary release, hailed as one of the most concentrated and expressive vintages in recent memory. The blend—approximately 70% Grenache with Syrah, Mourvèdre, and other permitted varieties—is deeply expressive, opening with aromas of dried rose petals, red and black fruit, lavender, bay leaf, licorice, garrigue, gamey meats, and forest-floor nuance. On the palate, it is powerful yet balanced—full-bodied, elegant, and silky, with vibrant acidity, focused structure, and building tannins. Critics have lauded it across the board: 98–99 from James Suckling, 96–98 from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, 97 from Vinous, and 96 from Jeb Dunnuck, each noting its depth, grace, and long-term aging potential.
Domaine du Pégau, led by Laurence and Emmanuel Féraud, is synonymous with tradition-rooted excellence in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Their flagship Cuvée da Capo is a cult treasure—crafted only in exceptional vintages and sourced from century-old vineyards across iconic lieux-dits like La Crau, Les Escondudes, and Montpertuis. This cuvée is produced with whole-cluster fermentation in cement vats and extended aging in large, historic foudres, embodying both the wild intensity and refined elegance of the terroir. It’s a wine reserved for those searching for authenticity, complexity, and timelessness.
