The 2018 “Chiara” Langhe Nebbiolo is supple yet structured, offering a lively and expressive profile that far exceeds typical village-level Nebbiolos. Aromas of cherry, raspberry, floral petals, and a lifted mineral edge jump from the glass, supported by a foundation of savory complexity . On the palate, it is medium-bodied and approachable, with refined acidity and polished tannins delivering clarity and luscious fruit purity . One connoisseur noted it “could easily pass for a $100 Barolo,” pointing to earthy fruit, elegance, and value in equal measure .
E. Pira & Figli, now led by Chiara Boschis, is one of the most respected names in Barolo. In 1990, Chiara—a graduate in economics and descendant of a long-established Barolista family—took the helm of the estate, becoming the first female winemaker to thrive in the Langhe. With an uncompromising commitment to traditional craftsmanship and organic viticulture, she manages roughly eleven hectares across Barolo, Serralunga, and Monforte d’Alba . Chiara’s vision blends manual vineyard care, subtle winemaking techniques, and terroir sensitivity, elevating both single-vineyard crus and approachable Langhe bottlings to extraordinary levels of freshness, balance, and transparency .
