The 2016 Rubicon is composed of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Cabernet Franc, aged 18 months in French oak (≈ 75% new) from September harvests under ideal Rutherford conditions. On the nose it shows intense, focused aromatics: creamy vanilla, black licorice, ripe black cherry and crème de cassis; on the palate it’s broad, deep, and elegant, with sensuous polished tannins, balanced fruit richness, and remarkable freshness. Critics praise its precision and class: “powerful and structured red with full body, focused and polished tannins and a long and flavorful finish” (James Suckling) and “great elegance and depth … finely grained tannins … amazing freshness … long, layered finish.” (Wine Advocate & Vinous)
Inglenook is one of Napa Valley’s grandest historic estates, founded in 1879 by Gustave Niebaum and today under the stewardship of Francis Ford Coppola. Nestled in Rutherford, the estate combines venerable vineyards (Apple, Cask, Creek, Gio, Walnut, Lower Garden, Lower Cask) with a dedication to high‑quality viticulture and thoughtful winemaking. Under Philippe Bascaules’ direction, Rubicon is crafted from the estate’s best blocks, farmed with care, often organically, and matured in French oak to emphasize balance, complexity, and longevity. Rubicon is Inglenook’s flagship wine — a Bordeaux‑style cabernet blend designed to express both power and refinement, and reflect vintage and terroir in equal measure.
