The 2023 Les Amoureuses opens with delicate aromas of red and dark berry fruits (strawberry, blackberry), wilted rose petals, violet, cola, and earthy underbrush. Medium‑bodied, it offers fine‐grained tannins, fresh acidity, and a mineral thread that gives lift and tension. There’s elegance and sensuality in equal measure, with a finish that is long, softly spiced, and floral. Though generous now, it’s built to develop—expect it to blossom from around 2028, with further refinement into the 2030s and beyond.
Domaine Joseph Drouhin, founded in 1880 and still family‑run, is one of the great names of Burgundy. Their holdings in Les Amoureuses are especially prized: a small Premier Cru climat in Chambolle‑Musigny that is often considered nearly on par with Grand Cru in nuance and elegance. Drouhin farms with respect for terroir—hand harvesting, low yields, indigenous yeasts, thoughtful use of oak (only a portion new), and careful élevage—all to preserve the signature perfume, grace, and finesse this vineyard is known for. The Les Amoureuses wine from Drouhin often shows floral lift, silky texture, and remarkable purity of fruit.
