The 2023 Pommard shows an intense, bright red color and a powerful nose of black cherry and spice that evolves toward young leather. On the palate it is firm, with well‑structured tannins softened by a harmonious texture. Flavors of ripe red and black berries are supported by earthy and mineral undertones. This is a generous vintage, offering both immediate appeal and solid aging potential—best enjoyed over the next 5–10 years, with peak expression likely around 7‑12 years from vintage.
Maison Joseph Drouhin, founded in 1880, is one of Burgundy’s foremost names. They own land throughout the Côte de Beaune and work with both estate vineyards and carefully selected supply partners under strict specifications. For the Pommard 2023, grapes are hand‑harvested in crates, sorted, fully destemmed, and fermented in open vats (2‑3 weeks), using indigenous yeasts. Aging is done in oak barrels with about 20% new wood, for roughly 12‑16 months. Drouhin’s philosophy here emphasises purity of fruit, terroir expression, and balancing richness with precision.
