The 2023 Corton Grand Cru from Drouhin is deep and powerful, showing aromas of candied fruit, mature berries, spices, and a touch of oak as it begins to develop. The palate is robust yet balanced — rich fruit supported by firm tannins and bright acidity, very long and persistent, with a “velvet” texture that tempers its structure. Though generous, it retains the signature liveliness and minerality of Corton. This wine is built for longevity: cellaring for 15–20 years or more is recommended.
Maison Joseph Drouhin, founded in 1880, is one of Burgundy’s most storied houses, with Grand Cru holdings across the Côte de Beaune and beyond. Their Corton Grand Cru wines come from the iconic hill of Corton, spanning the communes of Aloxe‑Corton, Ladoix‑Serrigny, and Pernand‑Vergelesses. The site is steep, with excellent southeast exposures and soils of clay mixed with small stones, forcing vines’ roots deep in search of water and minerality. Drouhin’s practices include hand harvesting, indigenous ferments, 2‑3 weeks of maceration in open vats, and aging in oak barrels with about ~30% new wood—always with the goal of preserving site character and vintage expression.
