The 2023 Montrachet Marquis de Laguiche Grand Cru is a powerful and expressive Chardonnay: floral notes of lily of the valley and peach blossom mingle with exotic fruit, honeyed tones, and grilled almond; there’s generosity of texture yet a core of energy and tension. The palate is ample and full‑bodied, yet fresh, balancing generosity with finesse; vibrant acidity gives lift while mineral and zesty tones frame the long finish. This is a wine built to age—optimum drinking between 8‑15 years, with full potential out to 20 years. 

Maison Joseph Drouhin, founded in 1880 and still family‑run, owns some of Burgundian’s most venerated vineyards and combines deep tradition with modern care. The Marquis de Laguiche parcel of Montrachet is a historic holding (in the Laguiche family since 1776), farmed with meticulous attention—hand‐harvesting, slow pressing, and about 30% new French oak used in élevage. The vineyard is planted on Puligny side slopes with brown‑red earth and polished limestone pebbles, with a south‑east exposure that gives both richness and lift. Drouhin’s philosophy here is purity: letting fruit, soil, and vintage speak, avoiding heavy manipulation so that the wine reflects Montrachet’s grand cru pedigree.
