The Drouhin Santenay Gravières Blanc shows bright orchard fruit—pear, green apple—with a hint of citrus blossom and a touch of lemon zest. There’s floral lift and a subtle thread of honey and toasted almond as it opens. On the palate, freshness and minerality dominate: crisp acid, fine texture, stony backbone, and a finish that’s clean yet textured. It’s a white meant to drink young to mid‑term, offering both vibrancy and subtle depth.
Maison Joseph Drouhin, founded in 1880, is one of Burgundy’s most established names—famous for respect for terroir, rigorous vineyard work, and elegant winemaking. Its holdings span many classic Côte de Beaune sites, including parcels in Santenay. The “Gravières” lieu‑dit is known for its stonier, gravelly soils which provide excellent drainage and impart minerality. As with all their whites, Drouhin’s approach here focuses on low yields, hand harvesting, slow pressing, gentle élevage (often using neutral oak or older barrels), with the goal of purity, freshness, and a clear expression of site.
