The 1996 Paleo Rosso is a mature, expressive wine built from 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Sangiovese, and 5% Cabernet Franc. It shows aromas of violet, sour cherry, cedar, sweet licorice, and tobacco, with ashy undertones and a lingering mineral frame. On the palate, the wine remains balanced—silky, refined, and savory, with graceful evolution and depth rather than overt power.
Le Macchiole is a standout estate in Bolgheri, Tuscany, founded in the 1980s by Eugenio Campolmi. It quickly gained acclaim for its experimental, site-driven wines—especially its flagship red, Paleo Rosso. Over time, the estate committed to expressing terroir and blending finesse with power, evolving Paleo into a Cabernet Franc–based blend known for its structure, elegance, and longevity.
